Favourite Kids' Clothing Websites

Friday 8 January 2010

My last post inspired me to share with you some of my current kids' clothes faves - just in case there is a really talented seamstress out there who wants to start sewing some gorgeous clothes for 9-12 year old girls and needs some divine inspiration.

These websites will surely get your style juices flowing. And some are even currently on sale. Heaven. (Keeping scrolling to the bottom for my latest 'find'.)

Enjoy!

All delicious - and my only criticism would be that many of these designers only cater to kids until 8 years old. Enjoy shopping before your kids get too big!

But my biggest, recent 'find' of all is... eternalcreation.com - ethical fashion from the Himalayas. I didn't know what to expect when I first saw the title of this website, but upon close (and closer!) inspection, I am totally in love.

Eternal Creation is the brainchild of a very clever Australian designer - Frances Carrington - who, upon registering with Australian Volunteers Abroad, was sent to work India. She was put in charge of a fledgling tailoring department in Dharamsala, the Indian Himalayas and home of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in exile, and her job was to teach tailoring and design to newly arrived Tibetan refugees.

In 1999, Eternal Creation was born, aimed at producing quality womens' sleepwear and accessories. You can only imagine the challenges this talented designer faced on her journey (monsoons, water shortages, frequent blackouts, the Chinese government), but the challenges didn't sway Frances, who was, and still is, compelled to improve the lives of Tibetan refugees.

After the birth of her two children, Frances gravitated towards children's clothes, with a focus on colour, classic lines and immaculate tailoring. Her business has continued to expand, and today, Eternal Creation is one of the largest private employers in lower Dharamsala, providing quality employment to people who need it most. Her items are sold in over 200 stores in Europe, Asia and Australia (including our own Brindabella Baby here in Canberra).

You can read more about this designer's incredible journey here. I don't need to tell you how vital Frances' work is for these Tibetan people - and if that's not enough to convince you to buy her (currently on sale! and if you sign up for the newsletter, you'll receive a further 10% off!) stunning clothing, then perhaps the following peek at her designs will...

And let's hear it for the boys...
