I'm Loving... Kids Carnival Party

Loving this super gorgeous Carnival theme party Lisa Barrett threw for her two beautiful boys on the weekend. Uber-stylish Lisa (the heart and soul behind Canberra's Got Style) wanted to have an old-fashioned fun style party with a minimum of junk and lollies.

How refreshing!

Instead of chips and sugar-laden treats, Lisa instead presented the kids with these divine little fruit salad cups, served in muffin cases...

...little bags of fresh popcorn and these delectable frozen yoghurt pops (I want one!)...

...and the quite incredible multi-coloured donuts (above) which Lisa made from Jessica Seinfeld's wonderful book, Deceptively Delicious. They're actually made from one third sweet potato and pumpkin! Can you imagine? And coloured with natural food colouring that lends that beautiful pastely hue.

Lunch was served in individual little recyclable trays made from spotty wrapping paper, each with a mini hotdog, a cube of cheese and a fresh fruit kebab. Lisa also made 'tiny pizzas' with more secret ingredients hiding in the sauce!

For fun, Lisa had some wonderful outdoor carnival games like 'ducks in a row' and fishing with magnetic fish. Her hubby helped with balloon rockets and the festivities rocked on with Lisa's own special party tape mix.

The circus tent-style cake was made from fondant icing and Lisa says it was 'her first attempt at fondant icing!' but I think she did a marvellous, super-cute job. Love the gumballs! Can you imagine the kids going gaga over this?

In lieu of loot bags, at the end of the party each child took home a bunch of balloons which contained a tiny amount of lollies and toys. Absolutely loving these spotty balloons.

What a gorgeous party. And I loved when Lisa mentioned collapsing on the lounge with a glass of bubbles to celebrate the adult survival, post-party. My husband and I do the exact same thing after every kids' party - Lisa, you're a girl after my own heart! Well done and happy birthday to the boys!
