Birthday Giggles and Surprises

Friday 19 February 2010

Just HAD to share with you all this card Husband gave me today, upon turning 40-something. I wet myself over it (oh yes, I'm definitely 40-something) - and it makes me laugh out loud every time I look at it (sitting here next to my computer). Inside it says...

I never repeat gossip, so listen carefully...

You're getting older, girl!

Tell me about it. My brother and his wife sent me a card with my age on the front. Like, in numbers. Boy did they stick it to me (although, sister-in-law can't gloat - she's only a month behind me).

The card is from Simson Cards - and after checking out their website, I can see a pattern of lusciousness in their range.

Speaking of lusciousness. Something else happened this morning (other than how great I'm feeling physically, but I'll fill you in on that soon). Today, I finally became a real woman. No longer a little wooden girl, I have now been born into real live womanly flesh. It has finally happened. I have made it. I have a KitchenAid. Well - I have a voucher to go and GET a KitchenAid.

(Are you falling over, Jenn?)

Oh, my darling, where have you been all my life? How I've pined for your whirring presence, taking the brunt of 7-minute frosting or nougat-blending whilst I stand nearby in my fluffy mules, filing my nails with rollers in my hair. How I've needed your presence on my countertop, standing strong and tall and proud, staying loyal and steadfast through my baking years and well into the years of my daughter and even granddaughter.

I have arrived. I am woman.

Only issue now is this... red or pistachio? What do YOU think?

Depends on the colour of your kitchen! Must co-ordinate dear, must co-ordinate.

Personally I like the passion red if it fits in.

I'm 90% on the red. My fave colour is pistachio green so this is why I'm torn. But the red is classic and it's a neutral - will fit in any colour scheme.

The Essential Ingredient has brought up a red one from the storage room. They have a pistacho one ready for me to view. I'll be in there in half an hour.

Then I will finally be born woman.

As much as you love green doesn't the red remind you of Dorothy's shoes? (did they have any of the special edition candy apple that sparkles left?) The red is a classic and will go perfectly with your bench tops... then again the pistachio against your glass swirly back splash... oh the decision is just too hard. But what decision to have to make! Have fun x
