felt pompoms

How is your Christmas decorating coming along? Have you started yet? I'm always looking for a new idea for Christmas crafting and I simply adore these little felt pompoms, which I can use to either decorate one of our mini trees . . . or how wonderful would they look strung along a garland?

All you need is some felt, scissors, needle and thread, and some twine.

Start by cutting out felt circles in your desired size. These are around 7cm in diameter. You will need nine circles per pompom.

Take a length of twine (around 15cm long for this pompom) and knot each end. Sew both ends into the centre of one circle, so they form a loop. Below you'll see I've sewed just one end of the twine - but also sew the other on top.

Now it's time to fold your 'petals'. Fold each remaining circle in half and then half again.

Sew your 'petal' to the centre of your first circle, at the tip of your petal only.

Repeat with another three petals, and then flip the disc over and repeat on the other side.

When you're done, fluff out your pompom! These are a delight to make, are quick and easy and look so stunning. Happy decorating!
