BIGGEST CONGRATS TO ...
Teena! EK Publishing has chosen your story to view!

Thanks to everyone who partook in this comp, in celebration of our An Aussie Year tour. I so loved reading all of your story ideas and I honestly have no idea how Anouska could have chosen a winner from such a stellar line-up. Congrats, Teena! And happy writing, everyone.

Teena, please do email me here so I can pass you onto Anouska!

Wow, what an incredible tour it's been for An Aussie Year

Tina and I have spent the past month touring the webosphere, visiting dear friends and colleagues with reviews, guest posts, sneak peeks, stacks of giveaways and lots of fun.

Thank you to our divine hosts for all your support! What an incredible, supportive, fabulous bunch of people you are. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all you have done to make this tour such a success.

If you've missed what went on, just click here for the full tour schedule, with direct links. There are still some chances to win a copy of the book and if you missed out, you can snaffle your own copy right here!

Now, as a grand finale to our grand tour, we're offering something very exciting ... the opportunity to have your children's book manuscript fall right on the desk of the publishers at EK Publishing. How cool is that?

This opportunity is for picture book manuscripts of 500 words or less, and is open to Australian and New Zealand residents only.

All you have to do is leave a comment below with a tempting synopsis (50 words or less) on your story. Anouska Jones, publisher at EK, will read each synopsis, and then choose the story she wishes to see.

Comp ends Thursday 5 December at midnight (Australian EST), so comments must be left before that time to be eligible. The winning entry will be announced on this blog on Friday 6 December, so do watch this space! as you'll need to email us with your details.

You only need to post your entry ONCE. It will appear when I approve the comment.

Thank you to everyone for following us on tour. It's been a fantastic ride and I hope you've enjoyed it as much as Tina and I have. We've simply loved celebrating our Aussie childhood, in all its glory. What a lucky country we are.

With one slice of cake left on the plate, the race is on to see who will get it. Grandpa, Grandma, and Mum and Dad, carry on just like the kids in this family battle. So who gets the last piece of cake?

A Grumble pulls Oliver’s hair. What a way to wake up! Oliver has woken up grumpy before, but this morning the Grumbles visit in person! They play football on his toast and cause all kinds of mischief. Oliver tries to make the Grumbles behave, until he has a better idea.

Thank you for a wonderful blog tour and congratulations again on your book.

In WW2, Wag Scrivener is posted to India and is told a traditional Krishna legend that parallels his own journey. He receives a special gift of a bean seed containing a single tiny elephant carving – one elephant, one wish – and he gives it to his sister on his return.

Many thanks for considering this and very best wishes to you all for the success of 'An Aussie Year'.

HI Tania,

So here is the story.

My Sam has suffered for years from Dyspraxia, anxiety and panic attacks and he is only 8.

A few weeks ago he wrote a speech for school about his experience and how he used to be such a worrier.

I had concerns about him wearing his heart on his sleeve and possibly leaving himself vulnerable to his peers, but he bravely powered on and the reaction and support from the school was mind blowing.

From there the speech became a story about a boy who blows his worries up with an imaginary bazooka.

Sam would love to get it published as a book that could possibly help other kids who suffer from anxiety.

We had no idea where to even start so this is like the universe speaking to us and a HUGE thank you to @Chantelle Ellem for sending us in your direction. xx

This story tells two stories with one text and two illustrations. Queenie, a country dog, loves holidays with her cousin in the city. Jessie, a city dog, loves holidays with her cousin in the country. Things are the same and yet different. Which is better? The city or the country?

Oops! Last line should read, 'But Mandy hates the cake.' Was thinking about my great-niece, Mia.
