Tottie and Dot Book Launch Wrap-Up!

Sunday 7 September 2014

And ... we have launched!

Our Tottie and Dot book launch party at Dymocks Canberra was a sunny, bright, colourful, sweet affair--with kiddles dressed to the nines, kooky wigs, a lemon drop tree, butterfly strings and marshmallow tea goodie bags.

We began with a book reading but before I began, I just knew we needed something 'more'.

Ta-da! Dot!

But before I could go on with the book, I thought maybe something (or someone) was STILL missing ...

Ta-da! Tottie!

I love that my kids don't get embarrassed by my shenanigans. Ella (behind us) is cool as a cucumber.

We had a gorgeous book reading, then the kids got busy with swapping around the Tottie wig, and I got into signing books. The kids got busy with their colourings and word searches and making butterfly strings--which were just stunning.

Huge thanks to everyone for coming out on Father's Day! and to Alison and Richard of Dymocks Canberra for hosting us in their utterly gorgeous store. To Nicole Godwin, creative helper and photographer extraordinaire and to my family - Ian, Ella and Riley for helping set up, too. More thanks to my dear Sylvia for the stunning flowers and for taking extra photos, and to the darling Jennie for providing the lemon drop tree and turning up with her Ralph Lauren family!

What a lovely time I had reading and being silly and signing books and chatting to adorable kids. The reaction to this book has been so overwhelming, and it's so heartwarming to see the passion people have for children's books. Our kids' book industry is alive and well, let me just say that!

I think the story was engaging!!

And to sum it all up ... Nicole captured exactly how today made me feel (below). I so love writing books and I love even more connecting with my readers. Books, kids and pink wigs. What more could an author need?
