Coming from a world hot-spot where architecture, the arts and fashion is skyrocketing into the very smoggy stratosphere, and where talent is only outstripped by noise and grime, it has been of enormous relief for me to move from Beijing to Canberra and witness talent like the stuff going on at Mathilda’s Market today.
Firstly, kudos go to Cate Hale who managed to coordinate a gorgeous market with a very decent turnout considering the time she had to do it in, and the surprising lack of support from local media.
Nonetheless, it was a triumph… and just look at this stuff. I mean – look at it! Come on! Can you believe what visual sugar your eyeballs are feasting on? Divine!
I was astounded at the quality, range and wonderful sense of community from these crafty businesswomen, and very soon I will begin featuring the journeys of several sellers... who have made a business out of doing what they love.
And isn't doing what we love what life is all about?
I hope to see you at the next Mathilda's Market, to be held in November. See http://www.mathildasmarket.com.au/ for more - the markets are held in many Australian capitals.
In the meantime, watch my blog for some inspiring stories...
