The time is nigh - tomorrow we fly to Tasmania for a 9 day winter break with the kids... something I have been pining for for so long, now - years, even.
I was born in Hobart and I travelled frequently to Tasmania during my time as a flight attendant with Ansett. But I never immersed myself. Now is the time to reimmerse.
So exciting.
Most people will think we're nuts heading south for the winter - Tassie is a cold place, but we don't mind. We love to snuggle and wrap up warm with gloves and hats and scarves and thick boots. We love any excuse to huddle in a warm cafe with hot chocolates swirling into our faces.
We'll cruise, walk, shop, visit nature, history, wildlife, galleries, museums, chocolate factories, farm gates for rasperries and apples. We'll take our time, ease ourselves into the island like an old faithtful coat. It's going to be just lovely.
So, dear readers - see you on our return. I'll have lots of wonderful places to blog about! Get set for a virtual tour of Tassie - family style.
