Our Glam New Car

Thursday, 24 September 2009

Well, truth be told, it's not exactly ours. It's temporarily ours. And it's scrumptious!

I've been given a brand new, baby blue Renault Koleos to test drive and blog about for Australian Women Online - for a whole month. We even get to take this stunner away on a four day trip to Sydney over the long weekend, to test out its goodies and there are some good ones.

You know when people talk about how something is a certain type of something and then you get it and it's, like - not? The Koleos is touted as a family car and I'm happy to say it certainly is an urban family car (footnote: you can also 4WD drive it, if you need to get off the beaten track). It's the Mum, Dad and 2.3 kids kind of car if you're in the 'burbs and you could certainly stretch it to three kids if you're an inner city dweller because even though it's quite roomy inside, it's super compact and so easy to maneouvre - so easy, it's actually freaking me out.

I can even take super big and really tight bends and still feel a handle on the road, despite being quite high up, and the steering wheel is small and turning circle unbelievable, so I can zip around like I'm in a mini. I love that.

I'm also loving the retractable kids' window shades and best of all - the flip up tray tables behind the driver's and passenger seat, so the kids can scribble away to their hearts' content.

So I'm loving it so far. I've only been for a couple of small test runs and I'm still coming to terms with the indicator being on the left hand side - so much so that I frequently send the windscreen wipers flapping. Sigh. Sends me back to Europe.

Next Saturday we're taking this baby on a road trip and I'm blogging about it all at Australian Women Online, so you can follow it all there. We'll have a theme to the trip and I'll be reporting back about all the fun places we find along the way, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, I'm off motoring!

How glorious! I look forward to hearing what you think of it! Alas, I only get to drive Fords in my family - Corey won't have it any other way!
