Roald Dahl's Day

What a fantastic party we had at Dalton's bookstore today, celebrating the birthday of one of the world's most beloved and favourite children's authors.

Kids from all over Canberra converged at Dalton's from 2pm where they ran amok with yellow balloons (Dahl's favourite colour) and listened in rapt awe as I read them the master's work - excerpts from The Enormous Crocodile and Revolting Rhymes (well, rapt awe and bursts of laughter!).

The enormous crocodile even rested on my shoulder during the reading. I also seemed to have grown a duck's beak from the centre of my forehead. But that, of course, hardly phased these nonsensical Roald Dahl fans.
