Happy Chinese New Year!

Saturday, 13 February 2010

Tonight we are having a celebratory feast to welcome in the Chinese New Year. I'll be making my first ever jiaozi (dumplings) and I'm also serving fresh spring rolls, pan fried lotus root, edamame (fresh soy beans in pods), pork baozi (bread dumplings) and for dessert, it will be lychees and mango slices layered into delicious parfaits.

Stay tuned for some photos of our little family celebration. In the meantime, if you want a little Chinese New Year fun with the kids, head on over to paper tigers where you'll find a printable template for the kids to make their own paper tiger!

This is the time of year we miss Beijing life most of all.

新年快樂! Xin nian kuai le! Happy new year of the tiger!

Tania, your menu sounds divine! Driving home from work tonight around 7.30pm, I saw a massive crowd queuing up for the most delicious Chinese in town! If it wasn't for the queue I was tempted to take a detour to grab some spring rolls :)

Thank you for highlighting our paper Tiger. I hope you'll send us pictures of any you make with your kids (who look beautiful all dressed up for their celebration, by the way!).
