Alice in Wonderland from Japan

Thursday 20 May 2010

We all have our little obsessions and I must admit two of mine are anything Alice and anything Dorothy. When my gorgeous friend Megumi sent another batch of treasures from Tokyo recently, I was once again agog, wondering whether or not to keep this box of Wonderland treasure for myself...

Of course, Ella won out. That amazing, tempting little box sat on my desk an entire day (I know! how did I contain myself!?) before Ella trundled home from school and opened it with glee. Now all I have to do is attempt to wrestle it from her clutches, to string around my own neck.

I adore treasures from Japan - that place truly is a wonderland.

Is that picture an edible cake? Amazing. I have all sorts of collections - while I sometimes pass them off as belonging to the kids - the guilty party is me. I have hundreds of little plastic Yowie animals (from the Cadbury chocolates) and even some from Japan (the best in terms of detail and artistry) and the Uk.

Hi Sandy! It's actually plastic, alas, so it could be used as a necklace charm or to clip to a bag, or just stare at in whimsical fascination. It really should be edible, though.
