looking forward to something

Sometimes the weight of the Everday pervades us. It seeps into our pores along with the bathroom cleaner, and pinches at us like clothespegs.
The mandatory nature of the Everyday brings us security, comfort and a sense of accomplishment, there's no doubt about it - but it can also become claustrophobic and mind-numbing if we don't actively seek out experiences - or make plans for those experiences - that bring us the most joy.
One of my greatest joys (and that of my family) is travel. If I don't do it often enough, I start to go a little stir crazy. We may have done a lot of travel but it's only because we make it a priority - we shun a second car, a mansion and many luxuries in order to do as much travel as we can - and to me, it's worth every cent.
As it's been far too long since I was last in Europe, it brings me untold breathless joy to have made the decision, along with Husband, to plan a Europe trip with the kids. It may be 18 months away, but the anticipation and overwhelming glee I feel about planning this trip is almost too much to hold within.
I want to climb to the top of this mountain in the Dolomites (below, taken 1994) and scream - "I'm coming back!" I can't even express how excited I am.
Planning for things that bring us such joy are a joy in the very planning. Deciding to plan this trip has made the Everyday drudgery that's so typical mid way through the year - into something so much easier to bear.
What are you hankering to plan? Something extra special to make the Everyday shine a little bit brighter?

I'm so happy for you. And I agree - the anticipation and planning and lead-up to a trip are all part of it. You're in for an amazing 18 months.
