beijing tai tai virtual book tour - Wrap Up

Sunday 15 April 2012

I have had the best fun on this wonderful virtual tour, in celebration of the release of Beijng Tai Tai. This is a book that means a lot to me - and being able to share it with the world via these very generous and supportive virtual tour hosts has been so special.

Thank you to everyone who hosted me! You can check out the full list here - and read along, too - there's reviews, interviews, excerpts and articles - even some motherly confessions!

China is a place that [unexpectedly] took hold of my heart. It is a place I am now impassioned for - I was impassioned the moment I arrived, I was impassioned throughout our stay - but probably at no time was I more impassioned than our final weeks in the capital, and our first weeks back home in Australia. Three years' later, and I could still weep for Beijing.

I hope you get a chance to read the book (available Australia-wide or at the Exisle Publishing website - it's also available as an ebook for those overseas readers!) and enjoy it as much as I loved writing it.

Thank you for joining me on this very special tour. If you live near Canberra, I hope to see you at the big book launch at the National Library next Weds 18 April (click the poster below to RSVP) and if you're too far away, check out the book's website for some fun photos and a video on my inspiration behind the book - www.beijingtaitai.com.

And lastly, I leave you with what people have been saying about Beijing Tai Tai!

"I feel like everyone should know about Beijing Tai Tai... it's the Eat Pray Love for mothers." – author Dee White

“Honest, hilarious, sad, witty, compassionate observations of people, places and things from an excellent writer.”  – author Sheryl Gwyther

“[Tania] . . .  talks about her struggles with the housekeeper - her ‘ayi’. It’s a difficult relationship and you’ll be begging Tania to fire her as you read about it. People who will love this book: Mums, expats, people with a sense of humour, people who have been to China, people who want to go to China, people who have heard of China. People who will not love this book: Tania’s ayi.” – Toushka Lee

“I read this book and loved it. I couldn't put the book down. I love the way Tania wrote this book; it is heartfelt, funny and so real.” – Dannii Beauty

“This book rewrites the myth of the full-time expat mother.” - Lee Mack, Managing Editor, City Weekend Beijing

“Both funny and insightful, McCartney's utterly honest account is a must-read for anyone with an interest in China, in refreshingly frank memoir or in the subject of motherhood - whichever country you choose to learn it in.” - Jenny Niven, Associate Director, The Wheeler Centre
