australian story presentation at St Monica's, Canberra
Friday, 16 March 2012
I had such a riot at St Monica's PS today in Canberra - I presented on Australian Story to grades 3 and 4. All the kids were dressed up to represent what they wanted to be when they grew up - it was great fun to quiz them on their aspirations.
At the end of the presentation, I lined up some volunteers and they donned wigs (Capt Cook, Julia Gillard) and held objects that represented historical moments in the book - the arrival of Indigenous Australians, the advent of decimal currency, the Gold Rush, the completion of the Sydney Harbour Bridge - and more. It was wonderful seeing the kids work out where they should stand in the line-up.
Big thanks to the lovely Rachael Hind for hosting my first official presentation for Australian Story!

Looks fab, they've put in so much effort! So great to observe your launch going from strength to strength.
