Today is the day we remember the selfless Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought at Gallipoli during World War I. The day also commemorates all soldiers (including those from the Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa and Tonga) who have died to keep our countries free.
We have talked with our kids several times about this special event today, and we even had the fortune to drive past Anzac Parade here in Canberra this morning to see the incredibly large turnout, filtering away from the dawn service.
Usually, we bake ANZAC biscuits, which are some of our most favourite Aussie treats (we like them chewy). It's a testament to how incredibly work-focused and busy I am that we failed to do this for the first time ever. This saddens me. But I guess we don't need a cookie to honour our fallen.
Lest we forget.
