london

The Royal Wedding may have been a tempter, but I certainly never need a reason to reminisce over London and wish I could jump on a magic carpet and swoop low along the Thames to Covent Garden for some hot roasted chestnuts and a fizzing shandy at the Lamb and Flag pub.

As my magic carpet is totally out of operation right now, I instead have to rely on this gorgeous little pocket book on London, which expedited its way to me today from the Book Depository in the UK.

Oh sigh. This book, illustrated by the talented Sarah McMenemy, is a treasure. Opening concertina-style with little pop-out gardens, turrets and monuments, readers can travel from Harrods through Buck Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Globe Theatre, Trafalgar Square, the London Eye, and more more more.

Each site is complemented by concise but interesting text, alongside beautifully drawn and totally whimsical maps. Not only is this a glorious way to visit London in a virtual manner, it's also a stunning pop-up art installation that will have you sighing and cooing every time you take a peek. And peek, you will.

Until I can dust off my magic carpet, this is my London fix for now. Gorgeous.
